Inspiraton Strikes...

I started wearing glasses when I was in the first grade. When other children would tease me my mother would tell me it was because "they were just jealous". Even then I knew that was poo. So when I got older I switched to contacts which, of course, means I don't see as well as I would if I just sucked it up and wore glasses. But my poor vision does have a plus side. From a distance, I sometimes see things differently than they really are. I have got so many great ideas because I thought something looked (or was) one way. So, I must say my vision is a blessing in a way.
Other than that all great inspiration strikes as soon as my head hits the pillow. I close my eyes and just start to see pictures. I suppose it comes from all the things I have taken in during the day, regrouping in mind and presenting itself to me when my defenses are down. The other night I saw (in my pictures) a sweet little dress I'm going to try to make my Zoe in time for her 2nd birthday the day after Valentine's Day. Last night it was a purse and then I lay there thinking of all the different ways I could make it and figuring out the logistics. The common theme, though, is this yarn. (look up) And in these colors. I can't wait till Valentine' Day! And I just want red and pink everything.
So, how does inspiration strike for you? A time, a place? A person (muse), a movie? Share with me what inspires you!

hi!
thanks for visiting my blog.

i get ideas at the strangest of times, and then of course, when i am ready to start creating, i've forgotten about most of them. must get an art journal and train myself to put it on paper!!!

Those colours are gorgeous! I can see how they would be inspiring. In fact, I've used the same for my newest creations!

And hey, glasses are WAY cool!

you have a wonderful blog, I just stumbled on it through some other blogs. I crochet and knit too!

About inspiration, right now I'm in a complete rut, with no inspiration to craft. It is disheartening to say the least.

I am following your blog now!

Funny, I think I see better with my contacts than my glasses. Hmm.

Anyway, inspiration often strikes me in the shower! Which can be frustrating, because I have nowhere to write down my latest plot twist, character development, or crafty idea. But it can be good, because I have to keep thinking about it while I finish showering, which often lets a new idea evolve and refine itself before I start committing it to paper.

I usually get my inspiration from color..fabric, paintings, etc.
Now finding time to actually be creative with this inspiration should be another subject to discuss . Happy Monday!

Hello lady,
I too have ideas pop into my head at night but mostly just as I lay my head down to sleep. Then I have to rummage through my nightstand drawer in the dark, mind you and quietly as DH is often already asleep and jot down what I can. SOmetimes I think I will remember it in the morning but no, most often not.
Wow, you do have an ambitious reading list, don't you.?

I love the colors of Valentine's Day :) Those yarns are so pretty! For me, the more I create, the more inspired I get! Once I get on a roll, I can't stop (until it's time to go to my "real" job, ugh!) Then I just daydream about it all day! I create a lot more in my daydreams than I do in real life!

I can't wait to see that little dress!

Inspiration strikes SO sporadically for me... I never know when or where it will happen. It's funny, sometimes I'll see something and I get an idea right there and sometimes I see something that I don't really notice and days later it will inspire me.

I hope you only use those powers for good! LOL. It's a blessing indeed. Beautiful work!

That's an interesting way to look at it. I got bifocals at 26 and hate, hate, hate that I can't see crisply. I never thought to enjoy or try to use the way I see without them for inspiration. I'll have to do that.

Thanks!
